Amori (アモリ, Amori) is one of the Amori Brothers. He was examinee #197 in the 287th Hunter Exam[1] and #127[2] in the 288th Hunter Exam.[3]
Appearance[]
Amori sports a vertical striped skull hat, a long-sleeved turtleneck shirt, plain pants, and shoes. He has almond-shaped eyes and sharp markings below both of them.
Personality[]
Amori is confident and arrogant, often chastising Imori when he doesn't take action quickly enough.[4] However, he is the most reflective and introspective of the brothers, willing to acknowledge when an opponent completely outclasses him.[3]
Background[]
According to Tonpa, Amori and his brothers have attempted the Hunter Exam multiple times and improved their teamwork each year.[5] During the First Phase, Satotz's marathon, he and his brothers help Tonpa to cause some of the weaker contestants to drop out (such as Nicholas), showing that they have known Tonpa for some time and likely worked with him before.[6]

When pointing out some of the regulars of the Hunter Exam, Tonpa mentions that Amori and his brothers specialize in teamwork and keep improving every year.[5] During the First Phase, as an exhausted Nicholas struggles to keep up during Satotz's marathon, the Amori Brothers surround and mock him, saying that he has won the year's pathetic award and wondering how he made it so far. After Nicholas falls to his knees and drops out, the three brothers catch up to the rest of the pack, and Tonpa pays them for their help. Amori says that Nicholas did okay for a rookie and praises Tonpa's ability to exploit an examinee's weakness.[6]
In the Milsy Wetlands, as various creatures kill dozens of the examinees, Amori notes that no one is behind them anymore, and Imori adds that there were more than 100 only a second earlier.[7]
Second Phase[]
After Menchi tells the examinees that they will have to make sushi next, they are all left confused by the term. Amori asks Umori if he has any idea what it is, but his brother replies that he doesn't.[8]
Third Phase[]
When one of the examinees reaches the bottom of Trick Tower and collapses soon afterward, the three brothers surround his body and pronounce him dead.[9]
Fourth Phase[]

On Zevil Island, as Imori stalks Killua to take his badge, Amori and Umori pursue Shishito and Kenmi. Amori is followed by Hanzo, but the ninja does not act because Umori is always with Amori. The two eventually succeed in getting the badges of their targets before meeting back up with Imori, thinking he has done the same. When they learn that he hasn't, Amori kicks him, and Umori punches him, with the former calling him a wuss and wondering how he hasn't beaten a little kid yet. When Killua quickly recovers from Imori's kick, Amori guesses that the attack must have whiffed, and Umori asks if he's toying with him. After Killua steals Imori's badge and asks the other two if they have #199, Amori becomes serious and tells Umori to take positions. The three brothers form a triangle in front of Killua, who suddenly leaps off a nearby tree high into the air and appears right behind Amori, kicking the back of his legs and forcing him to his knees. Killua then holds his sharp nails to his neck and draws a drop of blood, telling him to keep still and left disappointed by his #197 badge. After receiving Umori's #199 badge, he throws Imori and Amori's badges far into the distance. He tells them they have five days left to recover them, quickly disappearing into the forest. Amori is seen lying down with his hands behind his head, but he quickly sits up and pounds the ground in frustration.[4] Hanzo, having been deceived into taking Imori's badge by Killua, eventually returns for their two remaining badges.[10]

Amori and his brothers participate in the 288th Hunter Exam, but all three are easily defeated along with the rest of the examinees by Killua during the First Phase. Amori reflects on their training and says they were confident and practiced until they coughed up blood, perfecting their combination moves. However, he realizes that they failed because they ignored the existence of prodigies they couldn't imagine, describing Killua as someone born to be a first-rate Hunter. He wonders what their effort was for, especially since Killua will see them as having accomplished nothing. As his consciousness begins to fade, Amori says that it will be their last year taking the exam, guessing that others will make the same decision.[3]

- Since he and his brothers are known as the Amori Brothers, Amori's surname could also be Amori (アモリ, Amori).
Anime and Manga Differences[]
- In the 1999 anime adaptation, the trio encounter Gon and Killua again at Heavens Arena; Gon later fights and wins against them on the 50th floor.[12]
