287th Hunter Exam arcEdit

Buhara and another Gourmet Hunter named Menchi are chosen as examiners of Phase Two of the 287th Hunter Exam held in the Visca Forest Reserve. In the first test of this phase, he asks the applicants to cook whole roast wild pigs for him. Even though the only subspecies of wild pig in the reserve is the Great Stamp, the most dangerous wild pig in the world, 70 out of the 148 examinees succeed in catching them. Buhara eats all 70 roast pigs and passes all the submitters. Menchi says that for a Gourmet Hunter he was too easy on them, but he reminds her that they are not to judge the applicants by the taste of the foods.

Still, in the second test Menchi lets her passion for cooking overcome her good sense and disqualifies all 70 remaining applicants because they fail to make tasty nigiri sushi. A man named Todo does not accept this unfair decision and charges at her. Seeing that Menchi is about to go at Todo with her knives, Buhara knocks him away in a single hit, saving his life.

New Hunter Chairman Election arcEdit

Following the death of Chairman Netero, Buhara, together with other examiners such as Menchi and Satotz, appears at the headquarters of the Hunters Association to vote for the 13th Hunter Chairman[1].

Buhara can eat a lot more than his body weight, and has great physical strength, being able to send a large man like Todo flying in one hit with ease. He is also capable of using Nen because this is the minimum requirement for a professional Hunter, however his Nen type and abilities have not been revealed yet.

  • In the 1999 anime adaptation, Buhara sent two unnamed applicants who wanted to attack Menchi flying then he was thrown into a wall by Todo. When he was about to get serious, Menchi knocked Todo out[2].
