Kanzai is a professional Hunter and a member of the Zodiac Twelve with the codename 'Tiger.'

Kanzai is a lean man of average height. The hair on top and at the back of his head is tied up and hangs down like a tiger tail while the hair on the front of his head is spiky. He has sharp triangular teeth. His face and hair are marked by stripes. On the whole, it resembles the face of a tiger. He wears a pinstriped baseball uniform.

Kanzai is outspoken and can become angry or annoyed easily. He is often seen getting into argument with other people, especially Pariston, the Vice-Chairman of the Hunters Association.

New Hunter Chairman Election arcEdit

After Netero's death, Kanzai and his fellow Zodiac Twelwe members gather in the Hunters Association's headquarters to determine the rules of the election for the 13th Chairman. He, together with Clook, Gell and Piyon, votes against Pariston being in charge of their first meeting, but to no avail. When Pariston proposes that the Zodiac Twelve skip the election and let him become chairman, Kanzai and many other members immediately direct their hostile auras at him. To reduce tension and to minimize Pariston's political advantage, Cheadle suggests deciding the rules of the election by drawing lots and Kanzai agrees with her. Ging however predicted this move and rigged the drawing with Beans 2 days before. As a result, he and the rest of the Zodiac Twelve are forced to follow Ging's rules.

Kanzai, Ginta and Piyon then supervise Round 1 of the election. During the voting process, he is annoyed by Hisoka who he knows is a mass murderer and casts a blank vote. The first 2 rounds of the election are not valid because they have voting rates smaller than 95%. Thus, in the meeting of the Zodiac Twelve before Round 3, Pariston suggests that they temporarily confiscate the licences of those who abstain or cast ineligible votes. Kanzai openly opposes him. Pariston hits back by mocking him about his math and language skills. Furious, he charges at Pariston, only to be stopped and warned by Ginta, Mizaistom and Saiyu. In Round 4, the turnout finally exceeds 95% but he only finishes 21st with 3 votes and therefore is eliminated.

Nen AbilitiesEdit

As a professional Hunter, Kanzai can use Nen. Hisoka rates him 85 points on a scale of his own, higher than Piyon and many other professional Hunters. However, his Nen abilities have yet to be revealed.

  • Kanzai's pinstriped baseball uniform and codename are a reference to the popular Japanese baseball team Hanshin Tigers.
